Ms. Michelle Davis Vargas, Quality Engineer Manager at Illumina Inc., mentored three SDSU MESA/College of Engineering female students during the Fall 2018 semester.

Dr. Luciano Demasi, Professor in the SDSU Aerospace Engineering Department, was formally honored and inducted as an Associate Fellow of the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA) on January 7, 2019.

Novel repeater units and a clever layout of ferrite plates helps this new wireless power transfer system simultaneously deliver power to 10 devices. This new design was developed by Dr. Chris Mi, Professor & Chair, Electrical & Computer Engineering Dept. and his colleagues.

191 students from local colleges and high schools with a MESA program were matched to STEM professionals at 21 difference companies for the annual MESA STEM Shadow Day, held on November 15, 2018, making it the largest STEM Shadow Day in its 30 plus-year span.

The Brazil Program has supported Environmental Engineering, Assistant Professor, Dr. Matthew Verbyla's successful efforts to secure a 3-year, $300K NSF Grant for SDSU student and faculty research in Brazil's southeastern state of Minas Gerais.

When Christy and Tiffany Dykstra each applied for SDSU faculty positions, the result was a family reunion.

The Atkins Foundation awarded $5,000 to the San Diego MESA Alliance to sponsor the 2019 MESA Student Leadership Conference. The one-day conference will be held at SDSU in March 2019 for 100 MESA pre-college, community college and university students.

Three SDSU students have received multi-year fellowships from NASA to support their graduate research and education. Adrian Rivera and Sergio Sandoval are studying Aerospace Engineering.

Thirty students from the SDSU were selected to participate in mock interviews with Northrop Grumman Mission Systems engineers and managers on October 22, 2018. The mock interviews were hosted by SDSU's MESA program and Career Services.

Ten students from the SDSU Mathematics Engineering Science (MESA) program, attended the 7th Annual Solar Turbines Training Academy on October 12, 2018.
