The College of Engineering is pleased to announce that Richard Woodcock, PhD, has made a $100K gift to the SDSU Rocket Project. Dr. Woodcock's support has enabled the Rocket Project to design and build the dual cryogenic Methalox fueled rocket named "Lady Elizabeth."

The College of Engineering is pleased to announce that an estate gift from Wayne and Mary Beitler Leutloff has been realized with an initial distribution of $2,748,126. Part of the distribution ($1M) is designated to name the Wayne E. and Mary Beitler Leutloff Student Innovation Center in the Engineering Interdisciplinary Sciences (EIS) Complex.

In just nine days, SDSU College of Engineering, Assistant Professor Kevin Wood and his Interface Design Lab team have designed and built a ventilator that may be able to be mass produced and supplied quickly to aid in the fight against COVID-19.

Mechanical Engineering professor Amneet Bhalla is part of a team of researchers from San Diego State University and Northwestern University used the Comet and Bridges supercomputers to simulate inertial sea wave energy converter devices in collaboration with Polytechnic University of Turin.

SDSU faculty and staff have introduced unique solutions to continue academic and co-curricular activities via virtual means. Dr. Reza Akhavian, Assistant Professor of Construction Engineering, teaches a lower division class on virtual design and construction.

Dr. Natalie Mladenov, Associate Professor, SDSU Environmental Engineering, and former undergraduate Engineering student, Lorelay Mendoza, use a portable submersible fluorometer which can alert authorities to contamination after a storm by looking for an improbable marker: tryptophan.

The SDSU College of Engineering Femineer® Program recently partnered with the San Diego Festival of Science & Engineering to host the 2020 STEM Possible event held on Tuesday, March 10, 2020.

On February 1, 2020, the SDSU Rocket Project team successfully launched their methalox rocket, Lady Elizabeth, reaching an altitude of 13,205 ft.

Dr. Alicia Kinoshita, Associate Professor, Department of Civil, Construction & Environmental Engineering, has been appointed SDSU Director of Undergraduate Research and Creative Activities. As part of the strategic initiative to foster student success, Dr. Kinoshita will support and advance critical undergraduate experiences.
