Spring 2020 Outstanding Graduate: Anna Stahlak
Anna Stahlak is a Mechanical Engineering student graduating in May 2020. Her academic and athletic story has been an unforgettable journey to where she is today, soon to have a degree in hand. She transferred to San Diego State University in Fall 2017 to pursue her goal to be a mechanical engineer as well as a Division I athlete. She was on the Women’s Swimming and Diving team as a swimmer, earning the James Malik Award for a 4.00 GPA for Spring and Fall 2018 and has been a Scholar Athlete and on the Dean’s List for every semester.
Finishing up her mechanical engineering student career, Anna is working with a group on her senior design project that is sponsored by Simplexity who employs our very own professor Jeff Wield. She is a project manager for her project that will be demonstrating innovative bio-tech and diagnostic processes through the collaboration and integration of mechanical and electrical based subsystems. During her final school year, she also was able to intern at Nalu Medical to expand upon her mechanical engineering background.
Anna was born and raised in San Diego and has enjoyed all that the city has to offer, especially here at San Diego State. She is planning to stay in San Diego with currently two full-time engineering job offers that are both located in her hometown. This will allow her to remain in the place she loves while also doing what she loves, mechanical engineering. In the future Anna plans to become a project manager once she gains her experience as an engineer and is planning to attend National University to earn a Master’s of Science in Engineering Management with a specialization in Project Management. Anna has loved all that she has learned and experienced at San Diego State and is excited for what that future holds.
