Dr. Elisa Torresani awarded TMS-AIME Champion H. Mathewson Award

American Institute of Mining, Metallurgical, and Petroleum Engineers) Champion H. Mathewson Award is presented by The Minerals, Metals & Materials Society (TMS) annually, and is considered an important career achievement. The award was established to honor Champion H. Mathewson, who was president of AIME in 1943, and is made for a paper, or series of closely related papers with at least one common author that represents a notable contribution to metallurgical or materials science. 

Dr. Torresani received the recognition for the significance of her article “Anisotropy of Mass Transfer During Sintering of Powder Materials with Pore–Particle Structure Orientation”. The paper was co-authored with Eugene Olevsky, San Diego State University, Diletta Giuntini of Eindhoven University of Technology, Chaoyi Zhu, Tyler Harrington, and Kenneth Vecchio of University of California - San Diego, Alberto Molinari of university of Trento, and Rajendra Bordia of Rajendra Bordia.
