Spring 2019 Outstanding Graduate: Kelbi Redquest
Kelbi Redquest is a mechanical engineering student graduating in May 2019. She was a member of the Division I women’s rowing team for 2 years where she was recognized as a scholar athlete for all 4 semesters. She was also awarded the James Malik Award for Fall 2016 and Spring 2017 for earning a 4.00 GPA for these semesters while a member of SDSU athletics.
Kelbi has been working on her senior design project with Dr. Kevin Wood in the Interface Design Laboratory at SDSU. She is a part of a team that has designed and is constructing a cold spray deposition system to be used in surface coating applications and research. Kelbi has also been working with Dr. Fletcher Miller in the Combustion and Solar Energy Laboratory (C&SEL) where she has been working on the solar simulator.
Kelbi is from San Diego and enjoys spending time at the beach, hiking, rock climbing, swimming, mountain biking, and running. She also loves to take her yellow lab, Brady, to dog beach. Kelbi has worked as a math and science tutor for students of all ages throughout her college career. After graduation, Kelbi will attend SDSU to earn a Master’s of Science in Mechanical Engineering with a concentration in energy and thermofluids.
