Aztec Baja Racing Summer Trip

An Aztec Racing student in a car

The SDSU Baja Racing team is excited to share our experiences from this year's competitions, marking a significant milestone as we unveiled our brand-new vehicle. In May, we traveled to Gorman, California, where we achieved a commendable 19th overall finish. Our hard work paid off as we secured a trophy for an impressive 2nd place in the suspension and traction course, showcasing our engineering prowess. This achievement was not just a testament to our design and fabrication skills but also highlighted the team's dedication and teamwork. Following this success, we embarked on an even greater challenge in September, making the long journey to Michigan, covering over 4,000 miles. At this competition, we finished 20th overall and 18th in the grueling 4-hour endurance race, solidifying our place in the competitive landscape of Baja racing.

This year was particularly special as it marked the first car our team built since the onset of COVID-19, making our accomplishments even more meaningful. Additionally, all 15 core members of our team secured engineering internships at prestigious companies, including RTX: Collins Aerospace, Honda Racing, and Magna Flow, and many more companies underscoring the skills and experiences gained through our Baja project. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to our biggest sponsor, Mark McMillin, whose generous support made our participation in these competitions possible. His belief in our team and its potential has been invaluable in our journey. As we continue to develop our engineering capabilities and tackle new challenges, we look forward to building on our successes and inspiring the next generation of engineers at SDSU. Thank you for your continued support of the SDSU Baja Racing team!
