John Pateros Graduation

John is a mechanical engineering senior graduating in May with minors in both computer science in entrepreneurship. He first attended SDSU in Spring 2020 as a second semester freshman after transferring from CSU Maritime. During his time as an undergraduate he completed two internships. His first internship was at Fabric8Labs, a metal 3D printing startup company in Sorrento Valley, where he worked as a mechanical engineering intern to construct prototype printers that utilize selective electroplating. He also interned at Viasat in Carlsbad on the aircraft structures team, working on two different projects involving both software and mechanical engineering. John is also the mechanical team lead for an interdisciplinary senior project team working to build, design, test, and document an automated test fixture that positions antennas for insertion and reflection loss tests. His internship experiences in addition to his course work in mechanical engineering and computer science led him to discover his interest in the intersection of software and mechanical engineering with embedded systems and robotics. After graduation, John will be pursuing his Master’s Degree in Computer Science at SDSU.
