Enrique Neyra Graduation
Enrique is a fourth-year Mechanical Engineering student graduating in May 2023. Enrique was born and raised in San Jose and gained a passion for engineering through his high school’s 4-year engineering program.
In his sophomore year, he joined SDSU Formula SAE, a student-led team that designs, builds, and races a formula style vehicle. On the team, he was able to apply his engineering curriculum and gain the valuable experience of being on a project team. In his junior year, he took on a leadership position for the team’s suspension system, where he led the design, iteration, and manufacturing of the vehicle’s suspension.
Enrique spent last summer interning at Solar Turbines as an engineering assistant and was involved in the manufacturing process for gas turbine airfoil components. This year, he was given the opportunity to work on his senior design project with Solar Turbines where his team has been tasked with creating a pressure relief solution for the company’s turbine enclosures.
Enrique plans to stay in San Diego after graduation. He is excited about the opportunities to come as he enters the workforce and hopes to find employment in the defense or energy industries.
