Clemence Rausa Graduation

My name is Clemence Rausa and I am a graduating senior majoring in Mechanical Engineering with an Emphasis in Bioengineering. Throughout mytime at SDSU since 2019, I have gained a lot of amazing experience inside and outside of the classroom. I have worked with Dr. Parag Katira since my sophomore year conducting computational research simulating cellular adhesion to better understand what cell properties dictate cancer metastasis. I was able to present this research at SDSU at the 2022 Student Research Symposium, as well as this year at the Biophysical Society Meeting. For the last year I have interned at Nuvasive, helping to design instrumentation for minimally invasive spine procedures. In this role, I have had the opportunity to work with a design team and with surgeons to help develop efficient and safe products to be used in surgery. Finally, I would say the highlight of my time at SDSU has been my capstone project working with Dexcom to develop a mechanical attachment mechanism to simplify assembly for their CGM applicators. My experiences at during my time at SDSU have fueled my desire to work in the medical device industry in the future. I am thrilled to continue expanding my knowledge in this field through the Medical Device Design Masters of Engineering program at UC Berkeley in Fall of 2023.
