Geovana Pessoa is a Ph.D. student at the Experimental Mechanics Laboratory with research interest focused on fundamentally understanding the mechanical behavior of polymer matrix composites from the nano to the macro scale. The multiscale approach hybridizes EML’s strength in experimental, analytical, and numerical mechanics of nontraditional materials. Current research emphasizes the importance of the interlaminar interface on the structural integrity of composite-based structures during short and long-term loadings at a wide range of loading rates and environmental conditions. The research is sponsored in part by Armorcast Product Co.
