# Dr. Asfaw Beyene was elevated to the rank of Fellow of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers for his contributions to the field of theoretical and applied energy engineering, including modeling and simulation of gas turbine engines, dual and combined cycles, and biomimicry.

Dr. Asfaw Beyene received an award for the Industrial Assessment Center, Department of Energy, $1000,000, 2011 - 2015.

Dr. Asfaw Beyene received an award for the Clean Energy Center, DOE, funded through UC Berkeley, $300,000; 2011-2013, a total of $1,000,000.

Dr. R. M. German received a grant co-funded by the National Science Foundation and Korea-US Science Cooperation Organization for $42,300 to organize “A Workshop for Scientific Issues on Medical Applications of Micro/Nano Powder Injection Molding – Molding, Sintering, Modeling, and Commercial Applications."

Dr. R. M. German (with Sayed Moustafa) received a grant co-funded by the National Science Foundation and USAID Egypt for 36 months, $100,000 for the “Development of High Performance Nano-sized Tungsten Heavy Alloy Composites by Powder Metallurgy.”

Dr. R. German was elected a Fellow of the American Ceramic Society: 2011.

Dr. R. German was elected a member of the Madrid Institute for Advanced Study

Dr. Samuel K. Kassegne was promoted to the rank of Associate Professor of Mechanical Engineering with tenure effective August 25.

Dr. Kee S. Moon was elected Deputy Director of the NSF ERC for Sensorimotor Neural Engineering.

Dr. Kee Moon received a 2011-12 SDSU Alumni Association Outstanding Professor (Monty) Award.

Dr. Khaled Morsi was elected to the Editorial Board of the journal Metals.

Dr. Khaled Morsi is the lead organizor of a symposium at the 2011 meeting of TMS on Processing and Properties of Powder-based Materials .

Dr. Khaled Morsi was recognized by the Journal Materials Science and Engineering A as a top cited author for his paper on aluminum-carbon nanotube composites.

Dr. Eugene Olevsky received the World Leading Scientist Award from the Russian Ministry of Science and Education.

Dr. Eugene Olevsky was elected a Fellow of the American Ceramic Society: 2011

Dr. Eugene Olevsky was awarded a Professorship at the Denmark Technical University
