Research Interest

Dr. German received his Ph.D. from UC Davis in 1975. His teaching and research interests are in the area of Powder Metallurgy, Sintering, Materials Processing, Ceramics, in particular, engineering materials and their net-shape fabrication based on techniques such as powder metallurgy, injection molding, and advanced ceramic forming technologies.

Prior to joining SDSU as the Associate Dean of Engineering and Professor of Mechanical Engineering, Dr. German was the CAVS Chair Professor in Mechanical Engineering and Director of Center for Advanced Vehicular Systems at the Mississippi State University. Dr. German holds an Honorary Doctorate from the University Carlos III de Madrid, is a Fellow of APMI and ASM, holds the Tesla Medal, and is listed in various issues of Who's Who, and has received numerous awards. He chairs the annual Powder Injection Molding Conference and co-chaired the Powder Metallurgy World Congress.
